About lie detector test

Any kind of verification of our honesty can often prove to be extremely stressful, especially if it has a form of direct questions. A polygraph examination is not an interrogation and a professional and experienced examiner will make sure, that the atmosphere of the test does not make you feel overwhelmed. Making sure, that the person questioned is at comfort is extremely important for the accuracy of the test results, that is why so much attention is drawn to this matter. In order to approach the test in a more laid back approach it is useful to know a couple of facts about polygraph testing which will help you understand the whole idea. A polygraph is a device which takes care of measuring certain body processes taking place at the time of the exam. The most important factors are breathing and heart rate, skin conductivity or blood pressure. The information gained thanks to sensors attached to your body is then presented on a chart which is analyzed.

Although polygraph testing is still not very well known, each year the popularity of this verification method rises. And because of this fact, already certain unbreakable rules have been established, which make sure, that the tests are performed in a fair manner. The most important rule states that nobody can make you take the test. Each person undergoing the test must sign a written consent in order for the examination to start. There are also many regulations about the examiners themselves. To be as accurate as possible let’s use an example:

An employer with no polygraph testing experience has just started a recruitment process in order to find a new worker for an open post in the company. As a method of verification, the future boss decides to use the means of a polygraph in order to verify if the candidate for the job is trustworthy. He decides to perform the exams himself, meaning that he will be the examiner asking the questions. The first candidate comes in for the test and after seeing who is the examiner, does not sign the consent form and is automatically disqualified…. This kind of situation is unacceptable. You have the right to decline taking the test if the examiner is not a licensed expert and you should not have to face ay consequences because of that. If your future employer decides to conduct a polygraph test it is not only his duty to provide the appropriate equipment but also qualified personnel which will perform the test in a professional way.

When choosing a polygraph company it is important to make sure that it only hires qualified examiners. Our experts are all highly qualified with enormous experience and will make sure that the test is conducted appropriately and the results analyzed properly. Our up-to-date equipment gives us the possibility of reaching an accuracy level of almost 95%. A polygraph test does not have to equal stress but one has to acknowledge that it is practically impossible to cheat a polygraph. This is mainly because the parameters registered by the examination equipment are uncontrollable by a normal human being and that is why the results given are very accurate.

In what cases should a polygraph test be used?

The polygraph is not only widely used by companies but also by private persons. Knowing when and where to use a polygraph is an absolute must-do for anyone who is seeking the truth. As it is publicly known people lie a lot, let us be honest, we lie all the time. Some are very talented liars and while doing it, they hardly give any signs which could make it possible to identify a fraud. Others have very visible signs which clearly suggest that the things that we are being told are not particularly true. That is why a lie detector can prove to be so useful. A professional polygraph accurately monitors reactions of the subjects body to certain questions asked and gives good foundations for the examiner to determine whether the person questioned is lying or not. Below are listed a couple of cases in which a polygraph should be used:
  • Pre-employment screening. It is very often that companies use polygraphs in order to screen their future employees, especially if their work is to consist of working with classified or sensitive information. Using a lie detector during a recruitment process can re-assure you that the person you want to hire is worth your trust. It can also warn you in situations when a person may be a risk to your business.
  • Fraud of theft investigations. When faced with an encounter of serious fraud or theft within a company, it is common for the management to perform an investigation. This often is supported with the use of a polygraph. The so-called “lie detector” helps verify the statements of suspects as also gives vital information about the company’s employees.
  • Monitoring sex offenders. Polygraphs are now widely known to be one of the basic tools used to test sex offenders at the end of their sentence or during their probation. Test a convict with a lie detector has many positive aspects. One of the main tasks of such an exam is to verify whether such a person is ready to return to a normal life, without the risk that he or she will commit a similar crime. Polygraphs are also used to check if a convict is complying with the rules and regulations given during probation.
  • Bank employee control. Some banks use the polygraph in order to verify the truthfulness and honesty of their workers. It is well known that some employees have access to very big amounts of money. That is why banks take the highest caution in order to make sure that the persons given access to highest security locations are not a threat to the well being of funds deposited in the given bank.
  • Relationship troubles. Every relationship has a time of crisis. People make different mistakes which lead to all kinds of consequences. Some are extremely serious and cause whole relationships to end while others are of a smaller importance and let the relationship go on. When a time comes when one of the partners suspects the other of keeping vital information hidden a conflict arises quickly. One of the ways to identify and fight the problem is by using a polygraph. The lie detector is a professional way of finding out who is the one lying.
  • False claims. Whenever you are accused of doing or saying something, your basic right is to defend yourself. But in some situations it is extremely difficult to defend yourself if one does not have the appropriate evidence. One of the best ways to achieve such is to undertake a polygraph test. This method has already proved to be very accurate and is used all over the World. Taking part in a lie detector exam is one of the most modern ways of gaining in precise evidence which can easily lead to a full and rightful denial to given suspicions.
  • Civil cases. In some situations, especially when there is not enough evidence in a certain civil case, the UK law allows the use of a polygraph. The results received may be partly used for proving ones innocence.
  • Family problems. If you think your child is lying to you or that your family members are not being honest with you or are stealing from you or your business then you have to act fast. One of the common ways of finding out the truth facing this big family issue, is to perform the polygraph test on your family members. At first this may seem to be a bit strange and awkward but at the end of the day, precise results are given which lead you and your family to re-uniting.

Using polygraphs in large companies is quite popular but until some time ago it was unthinkable to use a polygraph in our private life. But as the industry grew, so did the possibilities and the variety of services offered. It is now normal and many agencies offer a very large selection of services connected with our personal matters. One of them consists of cases connected with infidelity in relationships. When a person is betrayed or cheated on, this leaves an enormous scar. What makes the situation worse is when your partner lies into your face even though you already know about the whole situation. A lie detection test is often used in these kinds of cases. Clients with such issues are handled with enormous care and apart from the service itself they also receive psychological support. Although this is not pleasant, it is worth to use technology in order to find out the real truth and in some situations end a relationship which has no future. We have also encountered situations where a lie detector test helped a couple return to the right path of a relationship.

Another very sensitive example are cases involving family issues. This often consists of drug abuse, money frauds or general conflicts. One of the most popular types of conflicts are the ones between parents and children. When youngsters reach a certain age, they begin to misbehave and can prove to be a lot of trouble if not handled properly. For some unlucky teenagers, their disloyalty will end up with the usage of alcohol, cigarettes or even drugs. No parent wants their kid to end up like that and for some it is unbearable to look at their children slowly becoming more and more addicted. A good way to tackle this problem is to confront your child and show the facts. It is obvious that no teenager will plead guilty to anything. That is why the polygraph has proved to be extremely helpful in some cases and has helped reunite whole families. We offer many other services connected with your private life and we are capable of helping you fight your issue. This type of cases is very specific and requires an appropriate approach. In some situations lie detection tests need to be extremely discreet. Our examiners are experienced in handling these kind of issues and will make sure that you are treated with the right comfort and caring.

Useful information about the Polygraph Test

Thanks to its successes in catching liars, thieves and frauds, the polygraph, also known as the Lie Detector, has gained some good attention throughout the last couple of years. Most will have seen the machine in films or in the media but some will know the test with a bit more detail due to the fact that they had already taken or ordered the test. Thanks to the experience gained through cooperation with many people, we know how to prepare a set of tips in order to make the examination more clear for our potential customers.

A very popular question involves the presence of observers during the examination. In general, if possible, the test is usually taken in a private manner, which means that the only people in the examination room are the examiner and the examinee. But this is not a rule. Depending on your case or the reason you are taking the test, observers may be invited. These could be law enforcement officials or people representing the company or agency to which you are applying. It is good to be prepared that someone else than the examiner may be present at your test. Many also ask about the equipment itself. The device has three basic elements : galvanometers, a cuff and transducers. The three parts combined form a system meant to measure the basic reactions of the body. A polygraph is responsible to measure and present the change in heart and breathing rates, pulse as well as sweating and skin conductivity. Based on the results a verdict is given by the examiner responsible for the analysis of the achieved measurements.

The next issue is the procedure itself. It usually takes about 2-3 hours and consists of two stages. The first stage involves asking basic questions. At first the examinee is asked to give true answers ( the examiner measures the reactions to a true statement) and then intentionally false answers ( measurement of reactions to false statements). Once the initial phase is finished, the examiner proceeds to asking questions related to the case. Most answers are YES and NO, which gives the possibility of achieving a clear reaction of the body. Once the questioning is over, the expert analyzes the results and gives a verdict. Later on a written report is given. We usually perform our tests in English but we do have the possibility of conducting tests in other languages.

Doubts are also born when the subject of the accuracy of the polygraph is mentioned. Research has shown that the polygraph is capable of reaching an accuracy rate from 65% to 95%. Obviously the more advanced the device is, the higher the rate. The most advanced equipment has even reached a 98% success rate. The quality of the lie detector also has its influence on this matter. We only use the most modern equipment manufactured by the most renowned companies. Combined with our certified examiner, we offer polygraph examinations of the highest quality. The polygraph test can be quite stressful but it is always much easier to deal with if you at least know what it all looks like. The most important tip we can give you before the test is: Be yourself, tell the truth and everything will be ok – that’s it!
