Lie detector test accuracy

The polygraph is only a machine that measures heart beat, breathing, skin resistance or sweating and blood pressure level. The polygraph operator must see the charts, or graphs, to accurately determine whether you were deceptive in answering questions

The overall reliability of the polygraph testing is not questionable nowadays. This is because the most advanced resources provide the absolute support to polygraph testers worldwide. We have the most successful records in this highly competitive profession. We use the latest yet reliable resources to conduct the polygraph test as efficiently as possible.

Our polygraph specialists have expertise about how to use the most efficient resources for conducting the lie detection test accurately. We understand that inexperienced polygraph examiners make some mistakes. As a result, we do not recruit polygraph professionals who do not meet our standards to conduct an ideal polygraph test accurately.

It is too difficult to decide on anything associated with the test devoid of the way in which figures are calculated. There may be a risk in terms of the oversimplification of such figures unreasonable. In such situations, companies, private individuals and government officers conduct a polygraph test for the second time.

Individuals who use a polygraph testing nowadays do not take account of the inconclusive test results as negative. They do not use such elements against the examinee of the polygraph test.

Things involved in a polygraph test

A lie detector test includes the following elements: A pretest interview, charts collection, the polygraph chart analysis, consultation with relevant people.

The time required to conduct a polygraph test for an average case last two to three hours. Pretest interview is the longest part in every polygraph test. You have to understand this truth and improve your expertise about this test.

We give crystal clear instructions about the actual polygraph testing phase. We make sure that examinees understand all these instructions without any doubt. We are happy to make clear their doubts and answer their questions regarding this profession.

We do not fail to explain how every aspect of polygraph equipment provides the most accurate result. We discuss about the main subject of the polygraph test in detail. We review all questions that we will ask during the polygraph test.

Polygraph test components

Once we and the examinee have geared up to take part in the polygraph test, we attach the most relevant components to the examinee. Even though these components are very stressful, they are not painful. We attach a couple of pneumograph tubes across the upper chest as well as the abdomen of the examinee. The next step is to attach two metal plates on the index and ring finger of the examinee. We attach a blood pressure cuff around the examinee’s upper arm carefully.

We ask questions that we were reviewed more than a few times before the polygraph test. We conduct two to three different polygraphs. We record all these processes in the audio and or video format. We make sure that the examiner and the examinee only in the room where the polygraph test is conducted.

How do polygraph examiners detect the lie?

An ideal polygraph can test the human physiology in the following aspects

  • Respiration
  • Changes in the skin resistance
  • Relative blood volume and the pulse rate

If a person is not truthful, then his or her physiological changes reveal it. A person is considered to be deceptive when the following physiological changes take place.

  • Increase or decrease in the heart rate of blood volume
  • Changes in perspiration and respiration

If a person is truthful, then his or her physiological patterns remain same. Opponents and proponents of the polygraph techniques argue about the overall differences between their statistics regarding the test.

There may be a false positive or a false negative error in the polygraph test. A false positive takes place when an honest examinee is reported as deceptive. A false negative takes place when a dishonest examinee is reported as truthful. The main reason behind the polygraph error of any category is a lack of professionalism of polygraph examiners. If polygraph specialists misconduct the test or misread the physiological data revealed by the polygraph charts, then there will be such mistakes. The examinee has to be honest in what he answers during the polygraph test. The examiners of the polygraph test have to keep concentrating on every change in the pulse rate, blood pressure, muscle movements, perspiration and respiration of the examinee.

Some people argue that people who have failed to be aware about the polygraph test may feel frustrated and failed to prove their innocence during the test. On the other hand, highly qualified polygraph testing service providers conscious about their professionalism and accuracy of the result. Thus, we use the most efficient resources in a professional way to conduct the polygraph test and provide the most accurate result.

We use so many procedures with an objective to identify leading factors towards false responses. For example, we keep concentrating on the following elements comprehensively.

  • An appraisal of the overall emotional state of the examinee from the beginning to end of the polygraph
  • Medical records that indicate the physical condition of the examinee
  • The most appropriate techniques for overly nervous and responsive examinee
  • A few genres of control question for appraising the response capabilities of the examinee
  • The factual analysis of different aspects of the case information in detail
  • Detailed review of questions
  • A pretest interview
  • Quality control reviews

Lie detector (polygraph) test accuracy

The more popular the polygraph becomes, the bigger the disagreements about its use. And it has become very popular. With each new challenge comes the need of, once again, proving that the lie detector is a legitimate device to be used in all kinds of cases and as technology develops, so does the accuracy of the device. It is only a matter of time for it to be a fully usable tool.

So what is the secret of the polygraph? Although it is sometimes called a “Lie Detector”, that’s not what it does. Of course at the end of the day, the result of the tests is a verification if a given statement is true or not but before that happens, many processes have to be completed. So in general the polygraph (or Lie Detector) is responsible for measuring the reactions of the body while a statement is given. Thanks to the monitoring of heart rate, breathing rate, pulse or skin conductivity we are able to determine what reactions have taken place in the body and what could their consequences be. Years of research have shown, that the body has natural reactions of hidden nervousness when a false statement is given. These reactions are all uncontrollable by the mind which is what makes the whole examination so accurate. A person has no control over their pulse or blood pressure. It just changes. Many scientists and researchers have not only discovered that the body reacts to lies but have also determined what these changes look like.Iit is the polygraphs job to make it possible to identify symptoms of lying.

Discussion have been raised about the possibility of cheating the test. Though explained many times, this matter tends to come back over and over again. It is practically impossible for a normal human to cheat the test. As mentioned above, the examination is very dependent on the body’s reactions, which, as we established, are impossible to control. Therefore in order to cheat the polygraph, one would have to attain the ability of controlling one’s pulse and blood pressure which is highly impossible for a normal person. Of course, there have been individuals which have managed to crack the test and it is said that specialist training will give the ability of cheating, but such things are only available for certain individuals. As an example we can use all kinds of secret agents. During their training they go through a special course allowing them to learn how to control their inner processes. This is performed in order for them to be able to keep any state secrets even when connected to a polygraph. Only such extreme cases may be taken into account which leads to the odds of such a person taking the test to be minimal.

There is also fear about the so-called false positive. This may sometimes occur but is very rare. The matter itself is heavily dependent on the examiner and his knowledge. False positives may be caused by stress of the examinee as also technical issues connected with the lie detector. A professional examiner will realize such factors and will take them into account when analyzing the results.

We provide the complete support when the examinee believes any mistake in the test. We have expertise and experienced to deal with every aspect of the examinee’s case. Once we have conducted the polygraph test, we release the result of the test only to an authorized person.
