How to prepare

Undergoing a polygraph examination often proves to be pretty stressful. This happens thanks to the fact that in some cases the test may look like an interrogation. Some are scared of the outcome of the test and fear that they will be falsely accused of something they are not. One of the way wise ways of beating stress is prepare appropriately, then you can approach the test with a peace of mind.

A very popular mistake made by people who are about to attend a polygraph examination, is to ask other people about lie detection examinations that they have already taken. Our experience has shown us that this does not have any sense and surely will not help you with handling your stress. Researching the test from statements of other people will give you a bad idea and will make you concentrate on the parts which will cause stress. Instead, simply prepare information regarding your field of interest and wait for your test to come.
The questions asked during the examination are also not quite worth your while for researching. In many situations the examiner will show you the questions he wants to ask. But even if he does not, it still is not worth searching for them. When looking, you will lose vital energy and at the end of the day will not receive anything else but stress. Just relax before the questioning and listen carefully to each question and answer in a calm manner.

Usually a test goes on for about 2 to 3 hours but this is not a given. In some circumstances the time of the test may expand and the examination can take much longer than expected. This is usually related to the complexity of the case or the number of people which have to take part. It is very important dress comfortably and relax. Also remember to not come late for a test, it is not only well received that you arrive on time, but will also give you the possibility of relaxing before the questioning begins.

But the absolutely most important thing to do is to get a good night sleep prior to the test. Starting with a fresh mind will give you the ability to give answers in a fast and accurate manner. Also if approaching the test rested, it will be easier for you to calm down before the test and make sure that you approach the examination in an appropriate and relaxed atmosphere.

The test itself is not a difficult one and should not cause you any difficulties. Because of its interrogation-like look we understand that it can be a stressful experience and that is why we make sure that anyone who takes the test is taken care of. Each examiner is professionally trained to conduct such tests and will make sure that you do not feel overwhelmed. All you have to do is get some good rest before the examination and approach the examination with a positive attitude and open mind. And most importantly: do not worry about the results of the test. If you are innocent, you will not be accused of anything you are not guilty of – it is our job to keep you safe from such situations.
